Ho sempre amato le immagini morbide, cercando di sfuggire la nitidezza spesso opprimente e noiosa della foto documentaristica. E le ho impiegate nelle copertine di alcuni dei miei libri. Dai Mari della Sardegna è un libro fotografico del 2010, se la memoria non mi fa difetto… La foto fa esplodere il contraso tra il tono caldo della stella e il verde del posidonieto e della superfice dell’acqua. Un effetto ottenuto pinneggiando rapidamente durante lo scatto, e con molti tentativi… Il più bel complimento per la foto mi fu fatto, durante una delle presentazioni del libro da un subacqueo di Alghero. Alla fine della proiezione prese la parola per dire che sott’acqua, per lui, era proprio così. Anche per me.
I have always loved soft pictures, trying to escape the often overwhelming and boring sharpness of the documentary photography. And I used them in the covers of some of my books. Dai Mari della Sardegna is a photographic book i published in 2010, if memory does not hurt me … The photo explodes the contrast between the warm tone of the star and the green of the posidonieto and the surface of the water. An effect gained quickly swimming while shooting, and with many attempts … The most beautiful compliment to the photo was made during one of the book presentations by a diver of Alghero. At the end of the projection he took the floor to say that underwater, for him, was just so. Me too.
